Laguna is a residential quarter of Elk Grove, and what lodging it has gathers at the eastern end, by the Laguna Boulevard exit off Highway 99. West of it the grid turns domestic: cul-de-sacs off Bruceville Road, school fields, parks beside Laguna Creek, and the fairways of Valley Hi Country Club along Franklin Boulevard. Sacramento lies a short drive north. Stay here if you have business in Elk Grove and want quiet streets and easy parking; you will not walk to dinner from most of it.

What are the main landmarks in Laguna?
Laguna's markers are a golf course, a creek and a boulevard rather than a monument. Valley Hi Country Club has played golf off Franklin Boulevard since the early 1960s, decades before the subdivisions reached it. Laguna Boulevard crosses the whole district, railway to Highway 99.
Parks line Laguna Creek. Laguna Creek High School opened in 1994 as the fourth high school in Elk Grove, and the Wackford Community and Aquatic Complex on Bruceville Road carries the public pools and gymnasium.
What is the history of Laguna?
Laguna was farm ground until the late twentieth century. Valley Hi Country Club came first. Its course opened in the early 1960s.
Sacramento County approved the thousand-acre Laguna Creek Ranch at Franklin Boulevard and Elk Grove Boulevard in the late 1980s, and subdivisions filled the grid through the 1990s. Foulks Ranch Elementary School on Laguna Park Drive carries the name of a pioneer ranching family who farmed this corner of Sacramento County from the 1850s. The Census Bureau counted the result as the Laguna census-designated place.
That designation ended on 1 July 2000, when Elk Grove incorporated and absorbed the district.

Laguna covers flat ground in the north-west of Elk Grove, from the Union Pacific tracks east to Highway 99, with Elk Grove Boulevard across its southern end.
