GeoNames — place names, population, and the country / region / city hierarchy (CC BY).
Wikidata — place identities and multilingual names (CC0, public domain).
Wikipedia — the presence and reach of articles across language editions is used as a recognition signal in ranking; Wikipedia content is CC BY-SA.
Maps & boundaries
OpenStreetMap — neighbourhood boundaries, and the sea, lakes and rivers, on our district maps: © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database License. Each district map carries this credit beside it.
geoBoundaries (CC BY) and Natural Earth (public domain) — country and region administrative boundaries, and the land, coastlines, lakes and rivers of our country, region and city maps.
