What are the main landmarks in Downtown?

Downtown Baltimore lines the Inner Harbor with museums and monuments. The waterfront draws the crowds. The National Aquarium, the Maryland Science Center, and the American Visionary Art Museum ring the harbour, while the Walters Art Museum, the Peale Museum, and the Washington Monument stand up the hill and the Lloyd Street Synagogue and Westminster Hall and Burying Ground keep the older streets.

What is the history of Downtown?

Downtown Baltimore grew as the old core of the city on the Inner Harbor. The harbour made the trade. Warehouses and wharves lined the water while the Washington Monument and the Battle Monument rose in the streets above, and churches like Zion Lutheran Church and the First Unitarian Church took their corners.

The Henry Fite House stood among them. The Historic Ships in Baltimore still recall the port that built the quarter.
