Where to stay in Helensvale

Where the beds are, and what that means for the visit.

Helensvale is residential, and some of it is residential on the water: canal estates in the north give boats access to the Coomera River and Saltwater Creek. Transport is the other argument for it. The Gold Coast railway line runs through from Coomera to Arundel, Helensvale railway station sits on it, and the G:link light rail has its northern terminus at that same station.

About Helensvale

What are the main landmarks in Helensvale?

Water defines the edges of Helensvale more than any building does. The Coomera River runs along the north, Saltwater Creek crosses the suburb from Oxenford before turning to form the north-eastern boundary, and Coombabah Creek and Coombabah Lake close the south-east with low mangrove swamp along them. Saltwater Creek Conservation Park protects a small patch in the west.

What is the history of Helensvale?

A sugar plantation gave the suburb its name. Arthur Robinson and Ernest White established it here around 1870 and called it for Helena, and the name outlasted the crop by a century and a half. Cane gave way to houses.

What is now Helensvale is residential ground threaded by canals, with the railway and the light rail arriving long after the plantation was gone.

Where is Helensvale?

Helensvale is bounded by the Pacific Motorway to the west and the Coomera River to the north, with Saltwater Creek forming the north-eastern edge and Coombabah Creek and Coombabah Lake the south-east. Oxenford lies west. Coomera is north and Arundel south along the railway.
