Not every neighbourhood fits every trip — here's what each one is good for.
Three names, one city. East Riffa, West Riffa and North Riffa are administered together inside the Southern Governorate, and a bed in any of them belongs to the same municipal address even when the drive between them is long. Ar Rifā' covers about 41 square kilometres, second in the Kingdom of Bahrain on that measure alone.
Distances follow from that. A guest booking for the Isa Sports City Halls, the Alba Club or the India Club Bahrain wants the sporting side of the city rather than the heritage one, and the two do not overlap. Older ground pulls the other way.
Saar Heritage Park, Al Jasra House and the mound fields at Janabiyah and A'ali give that side its reason, and a room near them shortens every morning given over to the prehistoric record. Sacred Heart Church and Bab Al Bahrain belong to the register a Riffa stay reaches rather than to Riffa itself. Nothing here is walkable end to end.
Anyone calling at the Hamad Town Model Youth Centre or the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam DJ Hall does better near Madinat Hamad, close to the Buri, Karzakkan and Dar Kulayb fields named for it.

Ar Rifā''s longest record is buried. Field after field of burial mounds is registered around the city, Madinat Hamad 1 at Buri, Madinat Hamad 2 at Karzakkan, Madinat Hamad 3 at Dar Kulayb, and the paired A'ali East and A'ali West fields. Janabiyah adds another.
The mound fields are numbered rather than named for founders, and their labels, Buri, Karzakkan and Dar Kulayb, do the naming work instead. Saar Heritage Park was laid out to keep one such stretch legible, and Al Jasra House preserves a built example of the domestic architecture that came after the mound builders. Governance settled over Ar Rifā' in stages.

How do you get to Ar Rifā‘?
Arrivals spread over three addresses. East Riffa, West Riffa and North Riffa each take traffic separately, so the part named on a booking matters more than the city name does, and a driver aiming for the Isa Sports City Halls should not settle for Ar Rifā' alone. The Southern Governorate covers all three.
