Solrød Strand grew as the shore end of Solrød. Long the open beach below the inland village, it filled in with seaside houses and a residential grid once the S-train reached the coast and tied this stretch of Region Zealand to Copenhagen. The line made the difference, turning summer beach land into a year-round commuter quarter on the eastern edge of the island.
Solrød Strandkirke followed the new streets. The rail drew the town to the sea.
