How the choice of base plays out on the ground.
This is one of the best-served quarters in Karaj. The Alborz governorate sits here, along with the provincial technical and vocational training bureau, the Karaj finance office and the Red Crescent. Two hospitals stand in the district.
Shahid Madani, which treats trauma and burns, and Kasra are both here, and the office of the weekly Novin is nearby. Boulevards carry the traffic through.

What are the main landmarks in Jahān Shahr?
Sport takes up much of the open ground. Jahanshahr has a tennis park, a paintball club and the Family Garden with its cycling track, along with the Milad club. The main mosque is Rasul-e Akram.
It stands at the start of Farmandari street, which runs through the middle of the district. Five squares punctuate the streets. Shahid Madani, known as Shir-o Khorshid, Helal-e Ahmar, known as Ladan, Golha, Jomhuri-ye Eslami and Sepah are the ones the district is laid out around.
What is the history of Jahān Shahr?
Gardens covered this neighbourhood once. Jahanshahr held a great many of them, and the last fifty years of building have taken most of them away, leaving what survives in poor condition. Mohammad Sadegh Fateh owned the best known.
He was the founder of the neighbourhood, and the gardens that carried his name are among those now falling apart. His wife gave the place its name. Jahanshahr is called after Jahan, and the name has outlasted the gardens it was given to.
Boundaries are simple enough. Hajiabad closes the district to the north, Kuy-e Karmandan to the west, the Chaharsad Dastgah neighbourhood to the south and the northern Taleghani boulevard to the east.
