The right area depends on your trip — here's what each neighbourhood is best for.
The cathedral decides it for most. Braga Cathedral, the Igreja da Misericórdia de Braga, the Igreja dos Terceiros and the Casa Rolão all belong to the old core, and a room among them puts the heaviest part of the register within a few streets. The Castle of Braga belongs to the same ground.
Anyone who came for the museums has a different shortlist, because the Dom Diogo de Sousa Museum, the Nogueira da Silva Museum and the Pius XII Museum are three separate stops rather than one quarter. Parishes take the edges. The Igreja Paroquial de Ferreiros, the Igreja Paroquial de Maximinos and the Igreja Paroquial de São Vítor each name a quarter of their own, and beds out there trade minutes for quiet.
Event nights reverse that logic. The Pavilhão das Goladas draws crowds on its own schedule, and a stay chosen around it has little to do with the churches that fill the rest of the list. Casa de Infias and the Casa do Tanque are listed houses rather than places to sleep.

How do you get to Braga?
Braga keeps its sights close. Braga Cathedral, the Igreja da Misericórdia de Braga, the Igreja dos Terceiros and the Castle of Braga are all inside the historic core, which means most of a visit happens without transport at all. The parishes are the exception.
Reaching the Igreja Paroquial de Ferreiros or the Igreja Paroquial de Maximinos means leaving that core, and the Pavilhão das Goladas sits on the same outer ring of the city's register. The Distrito de Braga surrounds all of it.
