Getting to Zalău means a road journey. The county roads of Sălaj County run in from every direction, and most arrivals come by car or coach from the larger towns of Crișana rather than by any route ending in the city itself. Șimleu Silvaniei sits on one of them. Once inside, the Zalău County Museum and the Wesselényi Monument make the easiest bearings, and the walk between them covers most of what a visitor came for.
