Sunzha grew out of Ordzhonikidzevskaya, and the town that replaced the stanitsa holds the administrative offices of Sunzhensky District, which makes its centre the practical one for a municipality whose bounds run to roughly 236 square kilometres. Lodging in Sunzha has not caught up.
A settlement that only took town status in 2016 has not had long to build a hotel trade, so a traveller planning a night in Sunzha should treat every room as something to confirm rather than assume. The district offers the alternative. Sunzhensky District spreads well past the town, and the outlying settlements inside it are quieter but thinner still on places to sleep, which pushes most visitors back toward the centre by evening.
Ingushetia is small enough to cross. Anyone who cannot find a room in Sunzha itself will be looking at other parts of the Republic of Ingushetia rather than at a different quarter of the same town, because there is really only the one centre here. The Civil War memorial of 1918 and 1919 stands in the town, so a short stop covers what Sunzha holds and the bed question is mostly about the journey either side of it.

How do you get to Sunzha?
The approach is by road. Sunzha lies within Sunzhensky District in the Republic of Ingushetia, and a driver working from an older map should watch for Ordzhonikidzevskaya, since the change of name only came in 2016 and both forms remain in circulation. That catches people out.
Signage, timetables and older gazetteers can each carry a different version of the same place, so anyone heading for Сунженская, Ordzhonikidzevskaya or Sunzha is heading for the administrative centre of one district in Ingushetia.
