What is the history of Chatsworth?
Chatsworth carries no recorded founding date, its past held instead in a single survival, the Minnie Hill Palmer House. Rancho Ex-Mission San Fernando held the land. Native Americans lived here first and left caves of rock art, the Spanish settled the area from the 18th century, and after the United States purchased the land following the Mexican-American War it stood as the largest such grant in California.
That old house is the district's firmest link to the years before it settled into the residential fabric of Los Angeles.
