Massachusetts Avenue carries most of the beds, running along the boundary within reach of the MIT Museum and the crossings over the Charles River. River Street offers the quieter alternative. Rooms on that side sit closer to Christ the King Presbyterian Church and the older houses, and further from the traffic of the avenue, though the walk to the MIT Museum lengthens.
Take the river side if you want the Charles River within a few minutes.

Christ the King Presbyterian Church holds a corner of the older street pattern between River Street and the Charles River.

What is the history of Cambridgeport?
The railroad drew one of the lines. The Grand Junction Railroad still marks a boundary of Cambridgeport, as do River Street and Massachusetts Avenue, while the Charles River closes the fourth side. Its houses record the rest.
The Margaret Fuller House and the Maria Baldwin House carry personal names, as do the Albert Vinal House, the Andrew Newman House, and the Asa Ellis House, a set of survivals from the neighborhood's domestic past. Cambridgeport remains one neighborhood among Cambridge's several.
