What is the history of Cloverdale?
A farm community was founded here in 1870. The site was chosen for its fertile land and its temperate climate, and the small settlement that resulted eventually amalgamated into Surrey, taking its place as one of the six town centres of that city. Surrey grew around it.
Cloverdale kept its name and its centre, and Cloverdale United Church and the Museum of Surrey stand on ground first broken for farmland.

Langley begins just east. Cloverdale occupies its own quarter of Surrey, west of the City of Langley and inside the wider spread of Greater Vancouver.
