Traffic through Kikwit is river traffic that has run out of river, so the commerce and the transfers and most of the reasons people arrive all sit close to the point where the Kwilu River stops carrying boats. Kwilu Province has one city of this size and no second. That concentrates the province's business and its onward road journeys on a single place, which means a stay in Kikwit is usually a working stay rather than a leisure one. You want a room in Nzinda or Kazamba if the trip involves the river front and you would rather not cross the whole city twice a day.
Lukemi and Lukolela sit back from that core. Expect simple rooms and few of them.
