What is the history of Eaux-Vives?
Les Eaux-Vives was a municipality in the Canton of Geneva from 1798 to 1931, an independent run of well over a century before the City of Geneva took it in on 1 January 1931. Plainpalais joined on the same date. Le Petit-Saconnex followed too, so three former municipalities entered Geneva together. Older ground shows at the Roman Villa at La Grange, while the modern district keeps the names of Contamines, Villereuse and Vollandes.
