About Mäntykangas

What are the main landmarks in Mäntykangas?

Mäntykangas carries much of Kokkola's sightseeing. The K. H. Renlundin museo and the ITE-museo sit here among the district's cultural addresses, alongside the historic Donnerin talo and Meren talo, with two churches, the medieval Kaarlelan kirkko and the central Kokkolan kirkko, marking the quarter as well. The Kokkolan baptistiseurakunta adds to the religious roll.

It is the city's museum heart.

What is the history of Mäntykangas?

Mäntykangas holds some of Kokkola's deepest civic memory. The stone Kaarlelan kirkko and the town church, Kokkolan kirkko, anchor the district to the religious life of the old parish, while the J. V. Snellmanin muistomerkki marks a figure of national stature. The quarter grew as the seafaring town gathered its institutions here.

That history still reads in its streets.
