What is the history of New Ferry?
Cheshire claimed this ground first. New Ferry sat inside the historic county's boundaries long before Merseyside existed as an administrative name, and the urban area itself only took shape from the early nineteenth century onwards, when building spread along the Mersey bank. Listed houses survive at Rock Park and Rock Lane East.
Later came Port Sunlight and the Leverhulme Memorial, which fixed the Lever name on the ground immediately inland from New Ferry.
