What is the history of Martinscroft?
One township, two names. Woolston with Martinscroft was the old unit inside the parish of Warrington, and the eastern half kept the Martinscroft name when the pairing fell out of use and the ground passed from the historic county of Lancashire into Cheshire. The Mersey never moved.
Paddington came into the same parish from the south-west, and Rixton has marked the eastern boundary.
