What is the history of Parkhead?
The name comes from weaving. A small hamlet at the meeting place of the Great Eastern Road and Westmuir Street gave Parkhead its name, and the district grew out from that junction into the East End of Glasgow. Glasgow's Eastern Necropolis was laid out beside the Gallowgate in 1847. Camlachie and Dennistoun lie west of it.
