Arzei HaBira runs to housing, not hotels. Guest beds are the exception. The practical choice is a room elsewhere in Jerusalem and a walk in from the south through Beit Yisrael, or from the west along the Shmuel HaNavi streets, both of which reach the quarter in minutes.
Ma'alot Dafna adjoins the north and repeats the same apartment-block pattern. Road 1 runs down the eastern side, so a ride from the Russian Compound or the Rockefeller Museum arrives quickly. Dress plainly; Shabbat empties the shops from Friday afternoon.

No monument stands inside Arzei HaBira. The landmarks filed against the neighbourhood are the wider city's: the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Pool of Bethesda within the walled city, and the Rockefeller Museum near its northern wall. The Israel Museum, the Shrine of the Book and the Bible Lands Museum sit out on the western side of Jerusalem, a ride rather than a walk from these streets.

Arzei HaBira was laid out in 1968. That date makes it a modern quarter by the standards of Jerusalem, built on ground that sits north of Beit Yisrael and east of Shmuel HaNavi. The deep past of the city lies elsewhere.
Aelia Capitolina, the Roman town raised over the earlier one, and the Pool of Bethesda inside its walls belong to the southern ground, not to these apartment blocks. What the neighbourhood records instead is one building decade and the boundary it settled into, with Ma'alot Dafna to the north and Road 1 closing the east.
