Kharghar is a planned node laid out in numbered sectors. Sectors 23 to 25 hold Central Park, open free since 2010, with green space at the door. Kharghar Railway Station is on the Harbour Line, and NMMT, BEST, and ST buses link the node with Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, and Thane.
Air quality is Kharghar's trade-off. Sectors 34 to 37 are the worst hit by pollution from the Taloja MIDC industrial area.

About Kharghar
What are the main landmarks in Kharghar?
Central Park is Kharghar's landmark: about 119 hectares across Sectors 23, 24, and 25, open since January 2010 with no entrance fee, on flat ground between a hill and water. Its lake was cleaned in 2023. Kharghar also has many schools and colleges, and CIDCO is developing it as the education hub of Panvel.
What is the history of Kharghar?
Kharghar was developed by the City and Industrial Development Corporation, CIDCO, as one of the planned nodes of Navi Mumbai. Administration changed in 2016. That year the Panvel Municipal Council became the Panvel Municipal Corporation, which has run the node since, while CIDCO remains the New Town Development Authority for the region.
The Navi Mumbai Metro opened its Belapur-Taloja section on 17 November 2023.
