Selāb sits in the first municipal district of Tabriz, north of the centre and under the slope of Mount Eynali. It is residential and old. Since the thirty-five-metre Ideh Lu road was cut through to the Pasdaran expressway, it has become one of the area's through routes.

What are the main landmarks in Maḩalleh-ye Selāb?
Shazda Hamami stands on Aref Street. The Moshir Nezam bathhouse is its other name. Kucheh Ideh Lu runs through the middle of the quarter, from the Selāb bazaarcheh in the south up to Mount Eynali in the north.
The house of Iraj Mirza's father once stood in Kucheh Sadr al-Shoara, mirror-worked and lavish, until neglect and new building took it down.
What is the history of Maḩalleh-ye Selāb?
The name comes from floods. They ran after every rainfall, were sometimes destructive, and the quarter was laid out to carry them away. Iraj Mirza, the Qajar poet, had his family house here, and his father Sadr al-Shoara Gholamhossein Mirza owned it.
Nader Haghi Mani, who headed the Loghman Hakim Hospital in Tehran, also came from Selāb.

Selāb lies in the north of Tabriz. Kucheh Ideh Lu is its spine, running south to the Selāb bazaarcheh and north to Mount Eynali, which people also call Oun ibn Ali.
