What is the history of Bergenhus?
Bergen began here, on the spit of land guarding the inner harbour. Bergenhus marks the medieval kernel of the city, the borough from which the wider town spread south toward Vågsbunnen and Solheim and out across the peninsulas to districts like Møhlenpris. The old fortress quarter held the city's first weight.
It still names the borough that anchors north-western Bergen within Bergen kommune.
