What is the history of Buraydah?

The caravan men of the Qassim, the Oqailat, led their camels across the deserts to Iraq and Syria, trading and driving herds, and the town grew on the trade. Later the Al Saud brought the region in. In time the Qassim came under the rule of the Saudi state, and Buraydah settled as the seat of the region, a town of merchants and farmers.
Oil money built the modern city. In our own age the wealth of the kingdom paved the roads and raised the schools, and Buraydah grew as the capital of the Qassim, keeping its dates, its markets, and its desert. The palm groves still ring the town.
