Not every neighbourhood fits every trip — here's what each one is good for.
Shopping decides the stay. Al-Thuqbah works as the main entrance to Al-Khobar along Al-Dharan Street, which puts most of the centres and shopping malls of the neighbourhood within reach of a room booked on that side. You pay for that in traffic.
A bed toward Industrial Thuqbah or Al-Bayoniah District trades noise for walking distance, while a room by the street itself suits you if the trip is built around the shops and the run out to Half Moon Beach.

What are the main landmarks in Thuqbah?
No monument list exists here. What Al-Thuqbah has instead is Al-Dharan Street, the broad approach carrying most of the centres and shopping malls of the neighbourhood and serving as the main entrance to Al-Khobar. Half Moon Beach sits at one end.
The street runs from that shore through the neighbourhood and on to Bahrain, Dammam and Dhahran, which leaves the road itself as the landmark and the shops along it as the reason most visitors stop at all.
What is the history of Thuqbah?
ARAMCO built it. Al-Thuqbah was originally constructed by the company in the early fifties, which places it among the historic neighbourhoods of Al-Khobar rather than among later additions, and the broad width laid down then still governs how the traffic moves. The name has two written forms. الثقبة in Arabic and Al-Thuqbah in Latin letters name the same ground, with Industrial Thuqbah and Al-Bayoniah District following on from it in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.

Al-Thuqbah spreads broad across Al-Khobar, crossed by Al-Dharan Street on its run from Half Moon Beach toward Bahrain, Dammam and Dhahran.
