What are the main landmarks in Al Nuzha?
The draw is everyday. Masjid Al Hawas, an old neighbourhood mosque, anchors the local streets and marks Al Nuzha out from the newer blocks around it. Nuzha Square gives the area a recognisable centre, ringed by shops selling computers and phones, photo studios, salons, and sweet stalls that trade late into the night.
For the pilgrimage itself, the pull is westward, toward Al Masjid Al Haram and the Grand Mosque courtyards that every visitor to Makkah comes to reach.
What is the history of Al Nuzha?
Al Nuzha filled in as Makkah spread west from its old core around Al Masjid Al Haram. The old Makkah-Jeddah road drew building outward along its length, and the district grew into the belt of settled quarters that took shape between that route and the districts of Az Zahir and As Salamah. Trade followed the housing.
Its shopfronts and small workshops turned Al Nuzha into a working commercial strip rather than a strictly residential one, and the older Masjid Al Hawas still stands among the later streets as a marker of the neighbourhood's earlier days.
Where is Al Nuzha?
The district lies on the western side of Makkah. The old Makkah-Jeddah road runs along its northern edge, while Ad Diyafah Street and Abdullah Areef Street mark the eastern side, and the ground rolls between the bare hills that hem in the whole valley city. Al Zahra sits to the east.
Ar Rusayfah borders it southward.
