Oleksiivska metro station opened in December 2010 at the junction of Liudvika Svobody Avenue and Askharova Street, and trolleybus and bus routes link Oleksiivka with Pavlove Pole and the city centre. A tram line along Peremohy Avenue runs to the Ivanivka industrial zone, the Central Market and the railway station. The 336th and 337th microdistricts are built with nine-, twelve- and sixteen-storey blocks.

What is the history of Oleksiyivka?
A village of the same name stood where the housing massif is now, held by the Kvitka family of the Slobozhanshchyna, to whom Hryhorii Kvitka-Osnovianenko belonged. The year the village was founded is not known. In 1779 it was recorded as a proprietor's slobidka, and three hundred and ninety-eight men lived there under the vakhmisters Ivan and Hryhorii Kvitka.

Oleksiivka lies in the northwest of Kharkiv. The Lozovenka and the Oleksiivska balka bound it, with the ring road along the north and the Lopan to the northwest. Stara Oleksiivka, Nova Oleksiivka, Zelene and Florynka are its parts.
