The Natchez Trace Parkway reaches its northern terminus at Pasquo, sending a long scenic road south from the edge of Nashville. That single junction defines the place. Pasquo also carries the transmitter of WRFN-LP, the low-power community station known on air as Radio Free Nashville, whose signal was raised as one of the barnraising projects of the Prometheus Radio Project.
What is the history of Pasquo?
Pasquo takes its name from Pasquotank County, North Carolina, the home ground of the early settlers who carried it west into Davidson County. The word is a clipped form of Pasquotank. A neighbouring settlement, now gone, once answered to the shorter name Tank, and Pasquo held on where its partner faded as Nashville pushed its suburbs westward along State Route 100.
