What are the main landmarks in Farroupilha?
Parque Farroupilha, the Redenção, holds the Auditório Araújo Viana. Part of the UFRGS central campus stands in the bairro, with its rectorate and library, the Engineering School, the Faculty of Architecture, the University Museum and the Salão de Atos. The Colégio Militar and the Instituto de Educação are here, as are the Positivist Temple and the churches of Santa Teresinha and the Divino Espírito Santo.

What is the history of Farroupilha?
The ground was once the Várzea do Portão, a broad, thinly settled floodplain used as public common and for keeping cattle. At the request of the provincial council it became the Campo do Bom Fim and then the Campo da Redenção. Landscaping began in 1925, under Otávio Rocha.
Alberto Bins went on to drain, level and plant the southern part to a design inspired by Alfredo Agache for the Farroupilha Centenary Exhibition. The bairro was made official by a law of 7 December 1959.
