Beltline works well for visitors who want to stay close to the centre of Calgary. The district sits just south of the downtown core, within walking reach of the Calgary Tower and the Glenbow Museum to the north. Lougheed House and its gardens stand among its streets, and the Stampede Grandstand rises on the eastern side.
It is walkable and central. If you want a base near the offices, galleries and event grounds of inner Calgary rather than the suburbs, Beltline is a strong choice.

About Beltline
What are the main landmarks in Beltline?
Beltline holds many of Calgary's older landmarks. Lougheed House stands near the heart of the district, a heritage mansion dating from the early years of Calgary. Churches line the streets.

Beltline grew from 1905 as an inner quarter of Calgary, just beyond the early downtown. Rail lines ran along its northern side, and the district filled with homes and churches, then the show grounds that grew around the Stampede Grandstand. Lougheed House predated much of it.
