The name came from England. Hull was named after Kingston upon Hull in England, and the settlement dates from 1800, which makes it the oldest neighbourhood of the city of Gatineau. Two rivers held the site. The west bank of the Gatineau River and the frontage opposite Ottawa gave the neighbourhood its position from the start.
