What is the history of Lugano Centro?
Digging at Piazza Cioccaro turned up Iron Age and Roman structures, which puts settlement on this ground long before the city took its present shape around the square. Cattaneo Castle carries the medieval thread. So does the ancient medieval convent of Santa Maria degli Angeli, whose church survives as a museum.
