Where to stay in Pavlovičky

Where visitors usually base themselves, and why.

Hradisko Monastery anchors the approach. Pavlovičky lies north-east of the centre, at the turning loop of Olomouc's trams, and the monastery, the Olomouc Orthodox Church, the Evangelical church in Olomouc and Veteran Arena Olomouc around it hold no beds. The city takes the booking.

Guests planning a morning at kostel svatého Štěpána and an afternoon at the arena will find an Olomouc address serves both without effort.

About Pavlovičky

What are the main landmarks in Pavlovičky?

Five entries, one monastery. Hradisko Monastery heads the list, and behind it come three churches of three traditions, the Olomouc Orthodox Church, the Evangelical church in Olomouc and kostel svatého Štěpána. Sport takes the last.

Veteran Arena Olomouc is the one entry on the register with nothing devotional about it, and it stands within the same short reach as the rest.

What is the history of Pavlovičky?

Pavlovičky, called Pavlovice until 1919, is young. When the Olomouc fortress was built in the mid-18th century, suburban settlements were torn down and their people given plots on a parcelled-out farm, and the new village took its name from its founder, Abbot Pavel Ferdinand Václavík of Hradisko. It became a self-governing municipality in 1850.

The railway brought industry, a vinegar works in 1853, the Briess family's malt house, distillery and yeast works in 1873 and Josef Mikšovský's sweet factory in 1887. By the early 20th century more than a thousand people lived here, most of them German speakers, and after joining Greater Olomouc in 1919 the village turned Czech.

Where is Pavlovičky?

Pavlovičky holds 0.69 square kilometres of Olomouc, with Hradisko Monastery and Veteran Arena Olomouc inside the same short reach. The city closes around it.
