What is the history of Weststadt?
Weststadt came out of the 19th century, when Heidelberg pushed west along the railways during the Industrial Revolution and the ground at the base of the Gaisberg filled with the city's first suburb. Growth did not stop there. Südstadt followed to the south and Bahnstadt to the west, and the Christuskirche and the Hoffnungskirche stand among the streets that expansion laid down.
