Where to stay in Paradies

The right area depends on your trip — here's what each neighbourhood is best for.

The Seerhein sets the northern edge of Paradies. A room on this side sits west of the Old Town, which puts Konstanz Minster and the Rosgartenmuseum a walk away rather than outside the window, and leaves the streets themselves quieter. This is a compact stretch of Konstanz.

Roughly 63 hectares of former village ground make a compact grid, and if you want river bank and historic core inside one short circuit, this is the side that gives both.

About Paradies

What are the main landmarks in Paradies?

The named list belongs to the city. Konstanz Minster heads it, with the Rosgartenmuseum, the Archaeological State Museum of Baden-Wuerttemberg and the Hus-Museum Konstanz covering the collections and the Städtische Wessenberg-Galerie the pictures. Two cloisters survive as names.

Dominikanerkloster Konstanz and Kloster Zoffingen carry the monastic side, while Trinity Church in Constance and old houses such as Haus zur Dogge and the Fürstenberger Hof account for much of the rest.

What is the history of Paradies?

Paradies grew out of a village, not out of the city. It became a quarter of Konstanz rather than staying a place in its own right, and the ground it brought with it runs west from the Old Town down to the southern shore of the Seerhein. The city beside it is older.

Konstanz Minster, Dominikanerkloster Konstanz and Kloster Zoffingen belong to that older core, and the museums along those streets keep the record a farming village never wrote for itself.

Where is Paradies?

Paradies covers about 63 hectares west of the Konstanz Old Town, reaching the southern shore of the Seerhein along its northern edge.
