Where to stay in Rheinau

How the choice of base plays out on the ground.

Rheinau is a place to live rather than to stay, and rooms here are few. Most visitors sleep in the Baroque centre of Rastatt, near Schloss Rastatt and the station, and come out only when family or work brings them. That centre is a short trip southeast.

Rheinau-Nord continues the same housing beyond it.

About Rheinau

What are the main landmarks in Rheinau?

Two churches mark the quarter. The Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche was built in 1986 for the Catholic parish, and the Rheinau-Kapelle, from the late eighteenth century, still stands on the old Plittersdorfer Landstraße. The Protestant Petrusgemeinde has served Rheinau and Rheinau-Nord since 1979, and its church in the Oberwald area opened in 1982.

What is the history of Rheinau?

The chapel is the oldest building here. The Rheinau-Kapelle dates from the late eighteenth century, beside the road toward Plittersdorf, while the housing around it came much later as a new residential area of Rastatt. Churches followed the people.

The Petrusgemeinde was set up for Rheinau and Rheinau-Nord in 1979, and the Catholic Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche opened in 1986.

Where is Rheinau?

Rheinau is one of the eight quarters of Rastatt's core town, lying northwest of the centre with Rheinau-Nord beyond it and the old Plittersdorfer Landstraße running through.
