The Regen joins the Danube just below here. Reinhausen sits in the angle between them, with the Danube about a kilometre to the south and the Regen bounding it on the west a good five hundred metres above the confluence. Bridges tie it to the rest.
Reinhauser Regen-Brücke carries the link to Steinweg, and Reinhausen lies north of Weichs, south of Konradsiedlung-Wutzlhofen and west of the ridges of Brandlberg-Keilberg. All of those lie north of the Danube.

What are the main landmarks in Reinhausen?
The bridge is the oldest structure here. Once important for the Bohemian trade, the crossing over the Regen is attested as a wooden bridge from 1194 and may already have been in use while the Steinerne Brücke was being built, and it only received stone piers in 1742. War destroyed it repeatedly.
Flood, ice and fighting took it down more than once, the last time in 1809 during the battle of Regensburg, when Austrian troops burned it while retreating from Rhine Confederation forces under French command. A narrow-gauge railway used it later. Walhallabahn opened in 1889 between Regensburg Stadtamhof and Wörth an der Donau with a stop at Reinhausen, crossing the Regen on the old bridge, and a Regensburg tram line later ended here once the Walhallabahn moved its terminus to Reinhausen.
What is the history of Reinhausen?
Reinhausen was a commune until 1924. It belonged to the Bavarian Bezirksamt Stadtamhof, its last mayor was Max Dauer, and Regensburg took it in on 1 April 1924. Its own claim was size.
The commune described itself as the largest village in the Oberpfalz before the incorporation. Politics made it known first. The Bavarian SPD founded its state organisation in the local Schrödelsaal in 1892, which put Reinhausen on the map well before it became part of the city.
Trade came over the river. The Regen crossing mattered for the Bohemian trade, stood as a wooden bridge from 1194, got stone piers only in 1742 and burned in 1809. Rail arrived at the end of the century.
The narrow-gauge Walhallabahn stopped here from 1889 and later moved its terminus to Reinhausen, which brought a Regensburg tram line with it.
