What are the main landmarks in Westhagen?
Three churches serve Westhagen: Mutterschaft Mariens, St. Elisabeth and the Pauluskirche. The Gärten der Nationen stand out. Public art stands about the streets, and the Stadtteil carries a coat of arms of its own.
What is the history of Westhagen?
Nothing stood on this ground before 1950. The Rasthof Wolfsburg went up on the Braunschweiger Straße in 1954 and is the Hotel Simonshof now. Wolfsburg's council decided in 1963 to build a new Stadtteil west of Detmerode against high demand for housing, planning began in 1964, and a part of the area that still belonged to Mörse was taken into the city that same year.
The council settled the development in 1966.
Where is Westhagen?
Westhagen lies southwest of the Wolfsburg Innenstadt, with the A 39 running directly along its flank. Detmerode is its neighbour to the east. Woods and recreation ground surround the housing.
