About Stockum
What are the main landmarks in Stockum?
Two museums and a row of churches. The Löbbecke Museum und Aquazoo is the better known of the pair, and the Museum und Archiv der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Urologie gives the quarter a second and far more specialised collection that few visitors arrive expecting to find. Christ Church, the Tersteegen Kirche, the Erlöserkirche and Heilige Familie carry the parish side.

What is the history of Stockum?
Remains of a late Bronze Age settlement have been found here, and a sizeable Germanic settlement dates from about 160 to 260 AD. Stockum was first securely recorded between 1090 and 1120, among the Kaiserswerth chapter's revenues. It long remained single farms.
A chapel followed in 1752, after Holthausen's church, probably Stockum's parish church, was pulled down in 1691. Still rural, it joined Düsseldorf in 1909; its old buildings later gave way to the trade-fair grounds.

Homes stand mainly in the east of Stockum, while the trade-fair grounds, the Merkur Spiel-Arena and the Rhine meadows fill the west. The A 44 forms the border with Lohausen to the north. Düsseldorf Airport, Kaiserswerth and Kalkum lie beyond it.
