Wesselbach is a residential valley. Its mill ground has carried new homes since 1996, and the old Boecker cold-rolling mill is now a craftsmen's yard. The Hohenlimburg town centre lies just to the north, and the wooded Stoppelberg and Egge landscape reserves rise on either side, the ground for walkers heading up to the castle and the ring forts.

What are the main landmarks in Wesselbach?
The Hengstenberg half-timbered house at Alter Schloßweg 4, once the tithe barn of the Limburg counts, is the oldest in the valley and the only house of the Freiheit Limburg to survive the fire of 1584. Some Burgmannen houses of 1612 survive. The Museum Schloß Hohenlimburg occupies the castle over the valley's entrance, the Sieben Gräben ring fort lies further south on the wooded heights, and the wire-weaving works C. M. Pieper, founded in 1831, still runs at its mouth on Herrenstraße.
What is the history of Wesselbach?
After the Limburg was sacked in 1584, the castle's Burgmannen rebuilt their homes down in the valley in 1612, the houses still called the Sieben Kurfürsten. Wire mills appear from 1619. Industry grew with the cold-rolling mills of H. W. Boecker from 1827, Carl Kritzler from 1851 and Theis from 1910.
After the Theis and Kritzler works were torn down, their long-idle site was opened for housing in 1996.
