Iserlohn
Central Iserlohn holds the rooms and the connections that Oestrich's parish streets do not, and it keeps the Dechen Cave within reach.Central Iserlohn →
Nußberg
Nußberg lies on the eastern side of Iserlohn, the other district address to try when nothing is going near the Burgberg. Lodging is scarce in this area; reserve in advance.Nußberg →About Oestrich
What are the main landmarks in Oestrich?
The cave does the drawing. The Dechen Cave and the Deutsches Höhlenmuseum stand together as the one attraction near Oestrich that people travel for, and they set this side of Iserlohn apart from its ordinary residential ground. Three church names follow.
The Friedenskirche, the Neuapostolische Kirche and the Evangelische Kirchengemeinde Oestrich account for the parish side, while the Ostdeutsche Heimatstuben und Heimatmuseum Ohlau keeps a museum of a different kind and the Burgberg puts a further name on the ground just outside.
What is the history of Oestrich?
Oestrich has a cave and churches but no charter year. What Oestrich has instead of a founding date is a set of institutions that fix it: a parish under the name Evangelische Kirchengemeinde Oestrich, the Friedenskirche and the Neuapostolische Kirche, and a museum carrying the name Ohlau in its title. The Dechen Cave predates all of them.
The Deutsches Höhlenmuseum belongs to the same subject, and between the cave, the museum and the churches the district's record is one of institutions rather than dates.
Where is Oestrich?
Oestrich lies on the south-western side of Iserlohn, in Nordrhein-Westfalen, with the Burgberg among the names on its edge. Nußberg is east.
