What are the main landmarks in Aarhus C?
Aarhus Cathedral, the tallest and longest cathedral in Denmark, faces the square of Store Torv. ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum and The Old Town stand in the district too, as do KØN - Gender Museum Denmark, the Viking Museum, the Occupation Museum, the Steno Museet and the Natural History Museum Aarhus. What is the history of Aarhus C?
Midtbyen is the oldest part of Aarhus, where the city originated. Vesterbro came later as the western entrance to the town, which is why a street there is called Vesterport, and its square, Vesterbro Torv, was a market for pigs and other animals in the 1880s. Building on the university campus began in 1932.

Aarhus C takes in six areas. Among them are the inner city, Midtbyen, and the University of Aarhus, and the district is commonly defined as the area enclosed by the Ring 1 ring road, Ringgaden, with six main roads radiating out from it.
