About Jamppa
What are the main landmarks in Jamppa?
Open ground sets the tone. Jamppa keeps no monument of its own, taking its bearings instead from the north-western side of Järvenpää and from the town centre to the south-east, where the streets and institutions gather. Quiet residential country marks the place.
Out toward the neighbouring municipalities of Tuusula and Kerava, and within the wider Uusimaa region, Jamppa reads as a calm edge of the town well clear of the busier core in southern Finland.
What is the history of Jamppa?
The ground lay at the town's edge first. North-western fields of Järvenpää stood beyond the old core before the streets reached them, and through the twentieth century homes spread across the open ground until this quarter took its shape on the north-western side of the town. Building came outward.
As Järvenpää grew within the Uusimaa region toward the borders of Tuusula and Kerava, the streets reached this corner, and Jamppa settled in as one of the residential north-western edges of the town in southern Finland.
Where is Jamppa?
Jamppa lies on the north-western side of Järvenpää. It spreads across open ground beyond the town core, where the streets run out toward the edge of the municipality and the country opens up around them. From here the district runs back toward the centre of Järvenpää and out toward the neighbouring municipality of Tuusula, set on the north-western edge of the town within the Uusimaa region of southern Finland.
