The Church of St John the Baptist anchors the older settlement beside the estate, and three memorials stand within about thirty metres of it: the Audus Hirst Memorial, one to Eliza and William Hill, and one to Zinai Wormald. Holt Park is a product of the 1970s, a medium-sized estate of low-rise housing laid out at the edge of the built-up city. The older names came first. Tinshill, Cookridge and Adel already stood on the map when the estate roads were cut between them, and the Church of St John the Baptist, the Parish Hall and Smithy Hall remain from that earlier fabric, with Holy Trinity Cookridge just beyond.
