Where to stay in Meersbrook
The right area depends on your trip — here's what each neighbourhood is best for.
Bishops' House is the reason to sleep here. A visitor booking in Meersbrook is two miles from the Sheffield city centre, with the Meersbrook allotment site along the eastern edge, Norton Lees beginning to the south and the Gleadless Valley ward drawn around the whole of it. Rooms in these streets are scarce.
If you want Bishops' House and St Paul's Church and Centre inside an easy walk, book here; the wider city carries far more choice.

About Meersbrook
What are the main landmarks in Meersbrook?
Two buildings carry the district. Bishops' House is the first, and the second is St Paul's Church and Centre, whose formal name pulls Norton Lees and Sheffield in with it and ties the church to the ground south of the brook. Then the allotments.
The Meersbrook allotment site holds the eastern edge, working ground rather than monument, and it shapes the place as firmly as either building does.
What is the history of Meersbrook?
Farmsteads came first. The fields that became Meersbrook lay south of the River Sheaf, and the farm names survive on the roads laid across them, Rush Dale, Carfield and Cliffe Field, with the place written as Mears Brook in 1857. Yorkshire and Derbyshire once parted along that water.
Ground south of Heeley Parish passed into the City of Sheffield as industry spread, the district was built out in that era, and until 1950 it sat inside the Sheffield Ecclesall constituency before the Gleadless Valley ward took it on the city map.
Where is Meersbrook?
The Meers Brook runs down to the River Sheaf here, with Norton Lees bordering Meersbrook to the south and the allotment site closing the eastern side.
