Uplands is short on hotel beds. Slad Road runs through the district with Brook House and other listed frontages along it, so a stay on that side keeps Lansdown Hall and the Stroud shops within an easy walk. Stratford Park suits the other kind of visit.
If you prefer quiet, the lanes toward Hawkwood College and Callowell run to gardens and hedges rather than shopfronts, and the walk down into Stroud costs only a few minutes more.

Uplands counts seven churches. Holy Trinity Church, the Church of All Saints, the Church of St Laurence and the Church of the Immaculate Conception stand within the district, joined by the Congregational Church, the Stroud Spiritualist Church and the Church of Saint Alban.
