The Springfield Brewery ran from 1873 until 1991. When brewing ended the site went to the University of Wolverhampton, which built its School of Architecture and Build Environment there together with the National Brownfield Institute, turning an industrial block into a campus. Student blocks came with it.
One of them is the tallest structure in Wolverhampton, which is a strange afterlife for a brewery yard north east of the city centre.
