What are the main landmarks in Titanic Quarter?
The set pieces are maritime. SS Nomadic, the last surviving White Star Line vessel and the tender that ferried first-class passengers out to the Titanic, is preserved in the Hamilton Dock at the heart of the quarter. Nearby, HMS Caroline, a Jutland-era light cruiser, floats in Alexandra Dock as a museum ship, and the concert crowds of The O2 Belfast pour out along the same waterfront.

What is the history of Titanic Quarter?
The land is made, not found. Reclaimed from the mudflats of the River Lagan through the nineteenth century, Queen's Island grew into the vast Harland & Wolff shipyard whose gantries and dry docks turned out ocean liners for the White Star Line, the Titanic among them. When shipbuilding contracted, the slipways and workshops fell quiet, and the district was recast as a mixed quarter of apartments, offices and a college campus wrapped around the surviving industrial fabric.
The Titanic story anchors the whole regeneration.

Titanic Quarter sits on Queen's Island, a flat reclaimed spit on the east bank of the River Lagan, directly across the water from the older Belfast city centre. Ships once slid from its slipways into Belfast Lough.
