What is the history of Lochee?
Until the 19th century Lochee was a town of its own, separate from Dundee, and it lost that standing only when the expanding city grew out and surrounded it. Jute did the rest. Camperdown Works stood here, the largest jute production site in the world, and that single industry is what the record fixes to Lochee more firmly than any of its churches.
The old parish names survive on Methven Street and Scott Street, where Lochee Old Parish Church and Logie Church stand.
