Where to stay in Novoli
Not every neighbourhood fits every trip — here's what each one is good for.
The Ippodromo delle Cascine sets the tone. Novoli is a working quarter of Florence rather than a sightseeing one, and beds here are the sort attached to a residential street, with Santa Maria a Novoli and Santo Stefano in Pane as the local landmarks instead of a piazza. Trade-offs are plain.
Take a room here if the racecourse and a quiet address suit you better than a doorstep in the middle of Florence.

About Novoli
What are the main landmarks in Novoli?
The Ippodromo delle Cascine is the outlier. Most of the rest is parish work: Santa Maria a Novoli, San Donato in Polverosa, Santo Stefano in Pane, Sant'Antonio al Romito, and the Demidoff Chapel of San Donato. The Museo della didattica in agricoltura closes the roll.
A racecourse, five dedications, and one small museum are the whole of it, and a visitor after the famous sights of Florence walks out of the quarter to find them.
What is the history of Novoli?
Pellegrino held this ground first. Novoli formed part of that comune until 1865, when the boundary changed and the quarter passed to the comune of Florence, which is the one dated event the record fixes for it. Older names sit on the churches: San Donato in Polverosa, Santo Stefano in Pane, and Sant'Antonio al Romito are the parishes the register lists, and the Demidoff Chapel of San Donato stands with the first of them.
The rest is undated.
Where is Novoli?
The quarter lies inside Florence, in Italy, with the Ippodromo delle Cascine and the church of Santa Maria a Novoli on its ground.
